சில விஷயங்கள் நமது உண்மையான நிறத்தை வெளிச்சம் போட்டு காட்டி விடுவது உண்மை.அதை நாம் ஏற்று கொள்வதும் ஏற்று கொள்ளாததும் நமது பக்குவத்தை பொறுத்தது.பல நேரம் நமக்கு அந்த கணத்தில் நாம் எப்படி செயல் படுகிறோம் என்பதை பொறுத்து தான் அந்த நிலைகள் வெளிப்படும் .ஏன் இப்படி சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றால் இன்று நடந்த ஒரு சம்பவம் என்னை தலை குனிய செய்துவிட்டது.
என் அலுவலகத்தில் சுதந்திர தின கொண்டாட்டம் நடக்கும் பொழுது சில தேசிய தலைவர்களின் படங்களை நாங்கள் ஒட்டி வைத்து இருந்தோம்.சுதந்திர தினம் முடிந்த உடன் அந்த படங்களை எல்லோரும் கிழித்து எடுத்து குப்பையில் போட்டு கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.நான் மட்டும் கருத்தாக பாரதியார் படத்தை எடுத்து என் பகுதியில் ஒட்டி வைத்து கொண்டேன்.
ஒரு மாதம் முன்பாக என் பகுதியில் ஒரு புதியதாக ஒரு இளைஞன் வந்து சேர்ந்தான்.அவன் மதுரையில் இருந்து வருவதாக நான் அறிந்து கொண்டேன்.மேலும் அவன் நான் படித்த தியாகராஜ பொறியியல் கல்லூரியில் தான் படித்து இருக்கிறான்.அதனால் அவனிடம் பல கதைகள் பேசுவது உண்டு .அவன் என்னை விட வயதில் சிறியவன் மற்றும் படிப்பு முடிந்த உடனே வேலைக்கு வந்ததால் அவனிடம் சில அப்பழுக்கற்ற ஒரு ஒழுக்கம் இருந்தது.காலை ஒன்பது மணிக்கு வந்து விடுவான் ,மதியம் ஆந்திரா மெஸ்ஸில் சென்று உணவருந்துவான் ,தன் இடத்தை விட்டு தேவை இல்லாமல் எழுந்து அரட்டை அடிக்க மாட்டான்.He is new to the system and so he doesnt overrides it.
அவனிடம் மதுரையின் வாடை அதிகமாக வீசுவது எனக்கு பிடிக்கும்.இன்று காலை நான் அவனிடம் பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கும் பொழுது அவன் செல்போனை வாங்கி பார்த்தேன்.அவன் தளபதியில் வரும் ரஜினி படத்தை செல்போனில் Wall paper ஆக போட்டு இருந்தான்.
"டேய் நெஞ்ச நக்கிட்ட போ " என்று அவனை மெச்சினேன்.
அந்த செல்போனே சற்றே வித்தியாசமாக இருந்ததால் அதை operate செய்ய முயன்றேன்.அதில் தமிழ் மெனு இருக்கவே அவனிடம் எதுவும் யோசிக்காமல்
" டேய் என்னடா இது தமிழ் ல செல்போன் மெனு எல்லாம் வச்சு இருக்க ?"
"ஏன்"
"தமிழ் ல போய் வச்சு இருக்க ? எப்படி டா ' என்று ஒரு விதமாக கிண்டல் செய்வது போல் பதறினேன்.
அவன் நிதானமாக என்னிடம் " என்னங்க தமிழ் ல இருந்தா என்ன ? நீங்களே இப்படி சொல்லலாமா ? "
"???''
பாரதியார் படத்தை சுட்டி காட்டி " அப்புறம் எதுக்கு இதை எல்லாம் ஒட்டி வச்சு இருக்கீங்க ,அதுல ஏதோ பாட்டு எல்லாம் எழுதி வச்சு இருக்கீங்க ,எல்லாம் சும்மா வா ?" என்று போட்டான்.
ஒரு நிமிடம் வியர்த்து விட்டது
என்னை உணர்ந்தவனாகவா இல்லை ,உண்மை புரிந்தவனாகாவா தெரியவில்லை நான் கொஞ்சம் பதட்டத்தில் அவனிடம் " நான் ஏன் அப்படி சொன்னேன் ?' என்று கேட்டேன்
"என்னங்க நீங்களும் இப்படி ஆங்கில மோகத்தில இருக்கீங்க ? "என்று கேட்டான்
அவன் கைகளை பிடித்து " சாரி டா மன்னிச்சிக்கோ நான் அப்படி கேட்டு இருக்க கூடாது " என்று கூறி விட்டு திரும்பி கொண்டேன்.
அவனும் அவன் வேலையை பார்க்க ஆரம்பித்து விட்டான்.அதன் பிறகு அவனை எனக்கு பார்க்கவே அவமானமாக இருந்தது .அவன் கூறிய வார்த்தைகள் எல்லாம் எனக்கு நன்றாக உறைத்தது.நான் யார் என்று, நான் பேசி கொண்டிருப்பது எல்லாம் பிதற்றலோ என்று கூட தோன்றியது.உண்மையில் சில நேரங்களில் இது தான் நானோ என்று தோன்றுகிறது,இதில் தவறில்லை தான் .அவன் சொன்ன மாதிரி ஆங்கில மோகம் இல்லை அது ஒரு பழக்கம் அவ்வளவு தான்.ஆனால் நான் ஏன் தமிழில் இருந்ததை பழித்தேன் .அதற்கு தான் விடை தெரியவில்லை.
இப்பொழுது நினைத்தால் அசிங்கமாக அவமானமாக இருக்கிறது.அவனிடம் மன்னிப்பு கேட்டதை தாண்டி என் செயலுக்கு என் தாய் மொழியிடம் கேட்டதாக தான் உணர்கிறேன்.ஆனால் அது ஒரு கேவலமான ஒரு நிலை அதில் நான் இருக்கிறேன் என்றால் நான் தலை குனிந்து அவமான படுகிறேன்.

anna, instinct...technology is son of English....Tamil is foriegner for technology....on first look we will have surpise...but as a techie we know its possible...still our mind wont accept other language except English...
Its not cultural shock but it became a habit for us...I dont see any thing wrong to want sorry...it happens to everyone...

I might read too much in between lines but it has got nothing to do with Tamizh or English. It has got more to do with the tone of approaching or looking at a certain new/different thing from the routine. Instead you going for a condescending demeaning tone (correct me if I am wrong and I am judging based on what you said), if the approach was like "It is something new to see tamizh fonts in phone", I guess the reaction would have been different. Using tamizh font is obviously a new thing or for that fact wallpapers or ring tones or anything at all. Just that it was out of ordinary and your curiosity was misdirected in a form of putting his choice down, the person reacted to it by countering your ardent appeal for tamizh not reflecting in actions. Being open/understanding to everything and never getting fanatical about one single thing would reduce overwhelmed reactions of seeing out of the usual.

He he...what to say,Good words...But let me tell u some thing ...I have seen tamil fonts my cook has tamil fonts in her mobile and every time she wants to enter new number she seeks my help and i have used the tamil fonts before ,,even in one of the mobile which i had tamil key pad ...its not that i was curious from seeing out of ordinary..But the fact was my instant reaction by seeing the tamil fonts in a well educated guy mobile made me to comment sarcastically and then i realised it was wrong what i felt ...I take this as a mistake from my side that i felt for a sec that it is english which makes educated man complete...It was not as u stated.

my opinion is that there is nothing wrong in your reaction on seeing the tamil font. I think its just the emotional appeal that had overshadowed your instinct at that moment. Ofcourse i appreaciate the fact that the guy had tamil fonts in his mobile. But its not usual to see regional language on mobile. Its usually used by someone who are not comfortable with English. So I would have reacted the same way as you eventhough my heart has immense respect for mothertongue. I understand thier perspectives might differ. But my perspective strongly falls on the normal reaction which is what you had on your initial feedback.
